David Edwards has over 18 years business experience both as a business owner, and in strategy consulting, private equity, corporate development, and structured finance. David began his career as an entrepreneur launching two successful companies. The first,was a import/export business that sold tribal art from Africa, Asia and South America to the Japanese market. The second was a wholesale apparel company in Seattle, Washington, which designed and manufactured men's and women's fashion and accessories.

David joined Atradius in May 2002 as VP, Securitization Marketing to head origination for the Americas of their credit enhancement products and other trade related financial solutions. In addition to leading Atradius' marketing initiatives in North America, he developed a quantitative model to price structured credit risk using live market data including credit derivatives. His team has securitized over $2 billion dollars in trade credits over the past two years.

Prior to joining Atradius, David was Director of Corporate Development at PLX Systems, a financial technology company, which specializes in intellectual asset management. During his tenure there, representative transactions included a licensing deal with the Government of Singapore that resulted in expanded sales coverage to Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Australia and over $2 million dollars in revenues and a $3 million joint venture with Softbank and Itochu which launched the subsidiary, pl-x, K.K. in Tokyo.

Prior to PLX, David worked in private equity at Ernst & Young where he analyzed business plans, performed due diligence, developed individual and portfolio company strategy, and structured strategic equity investments and alliances with early stage internet and technology companies. He also worked as a strategy consultant at iXL where he developed comprehensive online strategy for corporate clients.

He is a frequent speaker on industry panels including the Asset Backed Securitization and IP Structured Finance conferences, and has published papers in these fields including "Patent-Backed Securitization: Blueprint for a New Asset Class". He is also a pioneer in the field of neurofinance.

David holds a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Colorado and an MBA in Finance and Strategic Management from the University of Southern California.
